CAAM issues Middle East airspace travel advisory
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has advised passengers travelling to, from or transiting through the Middle East to check their flight status directly with their respective airlines before departing for the airport.
CAAM said the evolving security situation in the region continues to affect international flight operations, and airlines may reroute flights, revise schedules or cancel certain services as a precautionary safety measure.
Passengers may face longer flights and connection disruptions
CAAM stated that operational adjustments may result in longer flight times, delays or disruptions to connecting flights.
Several airlines have announced temporary suspensions, cancellations or adjustments involving Middle East destinations, with some international carriers extending suspensions into late August, September or October 2026.
Malaysia carrier updates listed by CAAM
In its 29 July 2026 update, CAAM stated that Malaysia Airlines' Kuala Lumpur-Doha service is operating daily, while other Doha services are suspended until 24 October 2026 and Jeddah and Medina flights are operating as scheduled.
CAAM also stated that AirAsia X has postponed its planned Kuala Lumpur-Bahrain-London Gatwick launch from 27 August 2026 to March 2027, while Batik Air had no new operational changes announced.
Airlines reminded of passenger obligations
CAAM reminded airlines operating flights to and from Malaysia to notify passengers promptly of schedule changes, provide appropriate care and available travel options under the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code, and maintain clear communication throughout the disruption period.
Passengers who believe their rights under the MACPC have not been observed should first seek resolution with the airline concerned. If unresolved, complaints may be submitted through CAAM's FlySmart platform. The advisory is part of Aviation Malaysia coverage of passenger rights and flight disruption monitoring.
