CAAM monitors AirBorneo disruptions in Sabah and Sarawak

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) is monitoring flight delays, cancellations and schedule changes affecting AirBorneo services across Sabah and Sarawak.

CAAM said the airline attributed the disruptions to operational and maintenance-related matters, while stressing that safety must remain the highest priority.

AirBorneo passengers remain protected under the MACPC

CAAM reminded AirBorneo that affected consumers must be treated fairly in accordance with the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code 2016.

Airlines must provide timely and accurate information about delays, cancellations or schedule changes, including the reason for the disruption and the options available to passengers.

Affected passengers may receive assistance or refunds

Depending on the nature and duration of the disruption, consumers may be entitled to meals, communication facilities, accommodation, transportation, re-routing or a refund under the applicable MACPC provisions.

Passengers are advised to check their flight status before travelling to the airport and contact AirBorneo directly for assistance and alternative arrangements.

Unresolved complaints may be submitted to CAAM

Consumers should first seek a resolution through AirBorneo's official customer service channels.

If the matter remains unresolved, complaints may be submitted through FlySmart, the online complaint form, consumer@caam.gov.my or CAAM's consumer hotline. CAAM said it will continue monitoring the airline's compliance.
