CAAM reports steady air travel performance during peak Hari Raya period

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) recorded steady and overall improved On-Time Performance across Malaysian air travel during the recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri travel period.

CAAM said the performance reflected effective operational coordination and enhanced air navigation services during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Assessment covered flights from 18 March to 28 March 2026

The assessment covered the period from 18 March to 28 March 2026.

CAAM said the majority of flights departed within 15 minutes of their scheduled time, with notable improvements particularly at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2.

Additional flights and runway optimisation supported operations

During the high-demand festive season, CAAM said it approved approximately 300 additional flights.

The regulator also supported runway utilisation through dedicated runway allocation to enhance aircraft movement efficiency and minimise congestion.

Coordinated efforts helped manage peak travel disruptions

CAAM noted that several operators maintained performance above the industry benchmark of 85 percent, particularly for flights departing from airports outside Kuala Lumpur.

The regulator said coordinated efforts with industry stakeholders helped ensure disruptions were effectively managed.
