Subang Airport helicopter fire incident confirmed
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has confirmed that a Kamov Ka-32S helicopter, registration UR-CIT, was involved in a fire incident at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang, Selangor, on 15 August 2026.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:28 p.m. while the helicopter was undergoing an engine ground run as part of maintenance activities.
Runway and flights placed on hold
CAAM stated in its news release that the airport runway was closed and all flights to and from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport were placed on hold until further notice.
Passengers were advised to contact their respective airlines for information about affected services.
AAIB to investigate the incident
The Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia will investigate the incident in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
