Malaysia Low Altitude Economy public consultation launched
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has invited industry stakeholders and the public to help shape the proposed Malaysia Low Altitude Economy Framework through a public consultation.
The proposed framework provides long-term strategic direction for a safe, secure, sustainable and commercially viable low-altitude aviation ecosystem involving technologies such as unmanned aircraft systems, advanced air mobility, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and digital connectivity.
Framework builds on four strategic pillars
CAAM says the framework will define the scope, vision, mission and guiding principles of Malaysia's Low Altitude Economy. Its four strategic pillars are Safe Aircraft, Safe Operations, Connected Infrastructure and Thriving Industry, supported by enabling foundations and a phased implementation roadmap.
The consultation follows the Malaysia Low Altitude Economy Forum 2026 held on 24 June 2026 and is intended to complement national initiatives including the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan, New Industrial Master Plan 2030, Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 and Malaysia Drone Technology Action Plan 2022-2030.
Written feedback is due by 2 September 2026
CAAM welcomes evidence-based comments and practical recommendations from industry participants, government agencies, academia, professional bodies, technology developers, investors, interested stakeholders and members of the public.
Written submissions must be emailed to lae.policy@caam.gov.my by 2 September 2026. Aviation Malaysia will continue to cover official developments in the consultation process.
